Bengaluru Restaurants, bars allowed to open for dining, serve liquor

September has in store all the good news for the restaurant sector. Resto pubs, bars and clubs have been allowed to resume services from September 1 as per Unlock 4.0 guidelines released on Saturday.

According to the officials the order to this effect will be issued on Monday.

“It will be back to normal like earlier,” added the Excise Commissioner M Lokesh.

“I feel our lives have to return to normalcy because we not remain in an abnormal state for so long as it is not good for a human being as well as economically. Opening restaurants, bars and social activities is part of return of that normalcy. I think it is moving in the right direction,” said Collin R Timms, Chief Mentor, Pecos who is ready to follow all SOPs by the government for the betterment of his team as well as the customer.

Commenting on the same, Vishal Atreya, Managing Partner, The Pump House shared “It is a pleasant decision we all were waiting for long. We are taking all necessary precautions to maintaining hygiene and sanitation including strict adherence to social distancing. Anyways the restaurants will have to follow a standard set of Sops provided by the authorities.”

Also, bars and restaurants will be allowed to function subject to reduced seating capacity and maintenance of hall temperature at 24-30 degree Celsius, the officials also stated.

“We appreciate this gesture but in the past few months we have gone through a lot of hardship as the business was completely shut,” pointed Meenakshi Raju, Co-Founder, The Biere Club who is taking all the hygiene and safety protocol very strictly. “We are taking all the measures to reassure them of highest safety and hygiene practices; whether it is checking our staffs, supplies, how the food is being cleaned, maintaining social distancing and serving on alternate tables etc. are some of the measures we are focusing on.  We are also focusing on contactless dining wherein customers can scan the QR codes on the table and go through the menu and place order.”

Last week, the Haryana government has also allowed restaurants and bars in Gurgaon, Faridabad to sell liquor. The Haryana government on Thursday allowed restaurants and hotels to serve liquor after almost six months since the lockdown began in March.

“It is definitely going to hell boost the morale of all the stakeholders involved and gradually help starting the economic activities which had come to a halt because of the pandemic,” added Atreya who is waiting for the government SOPs that is scheduled to announce today.
