Can traditional Indian cuisine tickle the taste buds?
Can traditional Indian cuisine tickle the taste buds?

Amit Agarwal was always passionate about starting an impeccable F&B venture. Concept hunting was challenging, but after lingering and pondering, he thought of keeping women as core audience and wanted to highlight their invaluable attributes. They wanted to support the fact that women of today are fearless, extraordinary and proud of their achievements. Their boutique-studio-cafe is the first one in India, as this territory has never been explored. Junglee Billee is a dedication and a celebration to those strong women of today.

Playing around the best design

Nida Mahmood inspired the entire design element at Junglee Billi by bringing her quirky set up and attractive wallpaper patterns. Very much like strong-minded women who are an inspiration. These prints represent a strong direction while being delicate and gentle in appearance.  Keeping originality in mind with rare photographs sourced from collectors to vintage decor, elements like typewriters, cameras have been placed in my restaurant.  At an average store size of about 3000-5000 sq ft, the restaurant is really creating a buzz in the segment.

How to tackle challenges?

Opening a restaurant is a dream for many people. Independent restaurant owners get to design everything, as they like. Unfortunately, the independent restaurant business comes with its fair share of problems and restaurant owners face many challenges. But having a great team is a blessing, Chef Saby has curated a cultural, Bombay inspired cuisine complimenting well with Nida’s decor where Bombay velvet meets modern quirk.

Tech-talk

Amit always wanted to make sure that technology plays an imperative role in their venture. And, they have tried to incorporate tech into the experience. Since, they are offering a retail-dining experience to customers, they have developed a mobile app, which allows customers to view Food & Drinks Menu and browse through and shop from our shopping catalogue. Also, customers can reserve a table for their visit and stay updated with new offers and events taking place at our Studio Bar.

On every visit, the customer accumulates points based upon their total spend. These points can be redeemed on Shopping Menu. For Food & Drinks the restaurant has a membership model, where they give out exclusive membership to ladies only.

Sourcing the best ingredients

Each and every raw material is sourced from various places. To maintain that classic taste, the restaurant has arranged special cheese imported from across the globe through their trusted sources. “To give that Mumbai taste, we have sourced spices from the grass roots of Mumbai. Even, Robert Welch cutlery and Schott Weizel glassware are imported especially from Germany. We have hired our profoundly trained staffs from IHM, who have worked with Michelin star restaurants,” shared Amit.

The whole aim is to provide a personalised experience to all our patrons.

Delivering fresh concept

The concept has been received well amongst their target audience. And, are already been featured on various media platforms. It usually takes time to register a new concept among people, but in very less time we have become the talk of the town. Ladies and their partners alike have loved our scrumptious food, completely “Bombiya” style.

Evaluating customers' time

On an average a customer spends around 2 hours in experiencing elements of the restaurant, be it food or interiors or our product catalogues.  Average price for a meal for two is Rs 1800 (without alcohol) Average price for a meal for two is Rs 2500 (with alcohol)

Way forward

“We have established that traditional Indian cuisine is one of the most sought after cuisine in the world. With twist of retail dining experience, we have planned to take Junglee Billee across all Metropolitans of India and then expand to other countries like Dubai, UK, Singapore. And we want to imprint our brand, Junglee Billee in the global market,” added Amit.
