CG Foods in a noodle fight with Maggi and Yippee

What makes India operation one of your largest markets?

The deep understanding of the Indian consumer, retailers and over three decade-long knowledge of Noodle business in the country makes India one of our largest markets.

India being one of the top markets for players like Maggi, Yippee, Chingz. Who do you see as your competitor?

Yes, it is true that Maggi constitutes the largest power of business, but we are also actively looking at successful operation in the country. Our competitor is Maggi and Yippee in the segment.

What is your expansion plan for Indian and the global markets?

We will add one more manufacturing set up in central India and after that we will go on adding noodle lines in existing factories in India.  Our aim is to grow at least by 30 per cent year-on-year in India.

What is your view on setting up a manufacturing plant in Bihar?

The Purnea plant is a definite step forward in the company's effort to strengthen focus on the FMCG market in the country.  We have witnessed a significant increase in our market share. This is part of our efforts to deepen our pan-India presence. Like all other production bases, this plant will also operate in full- steam and will boost the employment opportunities for local people in Bihar.

In Global markets, we are focusing in Middle East, East Africa and Eastern Europe at this stage.

Who is your target customer in India?

As Noodles is a hot favourite among children and youths, we are targeting them as larger customers. However, we will cater to all age groups.

What is your investment plan?

In addition to organic growth in the country by setting up manufacturing plant and expansion, we are looking for acquisition opportunities in ready-to-eat food product segment in India.
