Waayu, the first and only food delivery app in India with no commission, hosted an event at the Pai Resort in Belagavi to announce their expansion into Tier-2 cities, starting with Belagavi. With the help of affordable, tech-driven solutions, this new initiative seeks to provide local eateries with sustainable growth free from financial strain.
With operations in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai, Waayu is now bridging the delivery service gap for smaller cities by introducing cutting-edge platform solutions and technology that were previously only available in metropolitan areas. Over 350 restaurant owners, business executives, and important stakeholders attended the event to discuss how Waayu's platform can change the food delivery scene in expanding markets.
Ajay Pai, President of the Belagavi Association; Mandar Lande, Co-Founder & CEO of Waayu; Anirudha Kotgire, MD & Co-Founder; and Prashad Vantmouri, Namaste Delivery Owner and Waayu Belagavi Franchise, attended the ceremony to formally announce Waayu's entry into the area.
Speaking at the event, Mandar Lande and Anirudha Kotgire emphasized Waayu’s commitment to transforming the food delivery ecosystem in Tier-2 cities. “The shortage of delivery partners in smaller markets, Waayu seeks to build new opportunities for local businesses, including restaurants and e-commerce platforms, through a well-organized and effective network. The initiative will also aim at reskilling the workforce, empowering them with AI capabilities to foster growth and job creation in these regions.” they stated.
“For restaurant owners, food delivery platforms have long been an essential part of our business model. However, with Swiggy and Zomato continuously increasing their commission rates—recently by an additional 2%—the financial pressure has become overwhelming. With WAAYU’s launch in our city, we now have a much-needed alternative. by offering a 0% commission model through its partnership with ONDC, WAAYU provides restaurants with the chance to keep more of their earnings while continuing to serve customers effectively. Hence, I urge every restaurant owner to join WAAYU and seize this opportunity to take control of their business," said Ajay Pai, President of the Belagavi Association.
Waayu aims to expand its operations to additional cities in Karnataka and other Indian states, therefore this growth represents a key milestone for the company. Waayu hopes to improve restaurant and consumer happiness by providing well chosen, genuine dining experiences by onboarding more restaurants. By increasing their profit margins, its 0% commission model enables neighborhood eateries to provide their patrons with premium food at affordable costs.
