After creating waves in the U.S. through his innovative culinary philosophy, Suvir Saran returns to his roots with the launch of his first progressive Indian restaurant – The House of Celeste. Located in Gurgaon’s upmarket 32nd Avenue, this modern dining restaurant showcases a borderless cuisine with Indian elements. The restaurant has been designed keeping in mind the symphony between intuitive service and gallant exuberance.
The Modern Indian menu presents an innovative, contemporary and interestingly styled menu. On offer are street foods, regional fare, grill and wood fired oven dishes, a wide selection of meats and the season’s choicest ingredients. Every dish has been prepared around one main ingredient, paired with contrasting texture, color and a burst of flavors. The traditional Indian ingredients are used with some modern techniques to bring forth nuanced subtleties. The menu offers some traditional fare like Gunpowder prawns, Mutton ghee roast and Vindaloo pork.
Speaking of his philosophy behind The House of Celeste, Chef Suvir Saran said, ‘Celestial is something we look up to and something that gives us known comfort. It is easy to grasp, but abstract in its form, definition, nuance and intangible in shape or structure. At The House of Celeste, we will fashion our food in a manner to embody qualities that make it deeply delicious and artfully presented. Our aim is to create memories for our customers and become their preferred dining destination.”
Renowned for his accessible approach to Indian flavors and techniques, Saran has penned three cookbooks. Indian Home Cooking: A Fresh Introduction to Indian Food, with More Than 150 Recipes), American Masala: 125 New Classics from My Home Kitchen and Masala Farm: Stories and Recipes from an Uncommon Life in the Country.
A respected culinary authority in the New York’s food circle, chef Suvir earned a Michelin star at Devi, a first for any Indian restaurant in North America.
The House of Celeste aims to be an extension of one’s dining room. With all this and more, it is all set to captivate and charm gourmands of the Capital.
