Wagh Bakri's Vending Plans
Wagh Bakri's Vending Plans

Wagh Bakri Tea Group, one of India's leading players in the private tea and packaged tea segments, plans to open vending machines in Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and the rural market, as the demand for hygienic and quick tea-making, especially in offices and factories, is increasing.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Piyush Desai, Chairman and MD, said, “Small-time companies where the work carried out is labour-intensive and based on shifts. Even these people need to have quality tea available to them 24 hours a day. So it is our company that would be the first one to introduce it with the launch of tea vending machines.”

Mr. Desai further added, “Our vending machines also dispense coffee. Moreover, the same flavours are available in the low sugar variant too. Currently, there are already more than 1,000 machines in urban markets.”

Six years back, the company sensed the demand for quality tea in the institutional market and launched a range of vending machines and products for the same. Cardamom, ginger, masala, lemon and masala dairy whitener were the variants they dispensed.

Currently the total production of tea in India is estimated at 1,100 million kg. The Wagh Bakri Tea Group, one of the largest buyers of quality tea, purchases approximately 30 million kg of quality tea from Assam, Darjeeling as well as South India. The annual turnover is over Rs 750 crore.
