The ongoing nationwide lockdown and stay at home situation because of COVID-19 has left many of the migrant workers stranded on roads and nearby areas. This pandemic has immensely hit the poor and daily wage labourers.
With everything closed, these workers are left with no money and ration to survive. To work towards the daily living of these people, Moonshine Food Ventures in association with NRAI, Pure Hearts NGO, Vision Unlimited by Dr. Shibal Bhartiya have joined hands with District Administration of Gurgaon.
“We have been preparing 2000 meals a day in our restaurant kitchen to feed the needy for the past few days and are going to do so till the lockdown continues. We are eyeing to increase the number to3000 meals on a daily basis for which we need support from our friends”, said Vishal Anand, Founder, Moonshine Food Ventures, Gurgaon.
The meals are prepared under the supervision of the corporate Chef of Moonshine Food Ventures Sidharth Sharma at one of the Dana Choga’s restaurant kitchen situated in Nirvana Courtyard Gurgaon.
Meals are being distributed by the team of Volunteers with the help of District Administration of Gurgaon to every nook and corner of the city in a very systematic manner with complete safety and hygienic measures so that it reaches the needy as our aim is to not let anyone sleep hungry.
Similarly, online food delivery companies like Swiggy, Zomato and Rebel Foods, have also partnered with multiple state governments to deliver essential goods and donating free meals to migrant and gig workers, even as the country undergoes a lockdown to counter the Covid-19 pandemic.
While Zomato is working with the Punjab state government to ensure doorstep delivery of essential items, including medicines and grocery, Swiggy is collaborating with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi and other state governments.
"We are working with multiple state governments and eligible food providers to deliver safe and hygienic meals in bulk to migrant workers and medical workers, among others," said Sriharsha Majety, CEO, Swiggy in a statement.
