Restaurant India News: Bonobo Opens Second Outlet in Anjuna, Marking First Expansion in 17 Years

Bonobo, a long-standing neighbourhood bar in Bandra that has been part of Mumbai’s nightlife and music-led hospitality landscape for 17 years, has launched its second outlet in Anjuna, Goa. The move marks the brand’s first expansion since its establishment in 2008 and reflects a measured approach to growth within destination-led leisure markets.

Since its launch in Bandra in 2008, Bonobo has positioned itself as a venue focused on music programming and community-driven engagement. The outlet has functioned as a regular gathering space for artists, DJs, musicians, and repeat patrons, many of whom have remained part of the venue’s core audience over the years. The bar has maintained a consistent emphasis on electronic music and live performances, building a reputation for curated programming rather than trend-driven formats.

The Anjuna outlet represents Bonobo’s entry into the Goa market, with the brand retaining key operating elements such as curated cocktails, food offerings, value-led pricing, and a structured music calendar. The management has indicated that the Goa outlet will operate with operational alignment to the Bandra location while allowing the new unit to develop a distinct local identity in response to Anjuna’s established music and cultural environment. The expansion has been positioned as an organic extension of the brand into a market that aligns with its existing audience profile and music-focused positioning.

The programming at Bonobo Goa will continue to prioritise electronic music and live acts, maintaining the brand’s ongoing engagement with independent artists and selectors. The venue aims to function as a consistent platform for music-led hospitality, serving both residents and visiting audiences in the Anjuna circuit. The operational focus remains on creating a neutral, accessible venue format that supports repeat footfall and community participation.

Nevil Timbadia, Partner, Bonobo Goa, said, “Bonobo has never really been just a bar for us. It’s been a place where people meet, music connects, and friendships begin. Bringing that feeling to Goa, and to Anjuna in particular, feels very special because of its deep musical roots and open, creative energy. We’re not trying to copy Bandra here, we’re excited to let this space grow in its own way, while holding on to the heart and warmth that have defined Bonobo for the last 17 years.”

The Anjuna opening signals Bonobo’s entry into a high-traffic leisure destination, with the brand positioning the outlet as a community-led hospitality format anchored in music programming and consistent service delivery.
