The Bread Bar Expands to Navi Mumbai, Five Years After Chembur Launch

The Bread Bar, founded by Chef Rachi Gupta, has expanded beyond its Chembur base with a new all-day café in Navi Mumbai, marking the brand’s next stage of growth after five years of operations.

The brand began in Chembur with a focus on freshly baked breads, viennoiserie and comfort-led food. Its Navi Mumbai outlet carries the same core format while adapting the offering for a new neighbourhood.

The new café serves breakfast, sandwiches, brunch dishes, desserts and beverages alongside The Bread Bar’s bakery range. The format is designed to cater to different dayparts, from morning coffee and breakfast to casual meals and evening visits.

Chef Rachi Gupta trained in Culinary Arts at IHM Aurangabad and specialised in French Pastry Arts at École Nationale Supérieure de la Pâtisserie under Ducasse Education in France. Her professional experience includes an internship at Pierre Hermé in Paris and a stage at Michelin-starred Azurmendi in Spain.

The Navi Mumbai outlet has a different design approach from the Chembur location, featuring a curvilinear coffee counter, double-height space and barrel-vaulted ceiling. The interior uses natural elements and tactile finishes while retaining the brand’s orange as a key visual element.

With Navi Mumbai, we wanted to take that learning and create something that feels distinctly its own while staying true to what The Bread Bar has always been about – good bread, good food and a space that people can make their own.”

The Navi Mumbai opening gives The Bread Bar a second neighbourhood market and extends its all-day café model beyond Chembur.
