SŌZŌ Unveils Self-Order Fast Food Izakaya Concept in Mumbai

SŌZŌ has launched its first self-order fast food izakaya in Versova, Mumbai, offering a unique blend of traditional Japanese cuisine with modern quick-service techniques. This flagship restaurant, led by Head Chef Parvez Khan, known for his work at Wasabi by Morimoto, and hospitality industry investor Sameer Tirani, brings a new dining experience to the city.

SŌZŌ’s menu, curated by Chef Parvez, includes a range of "express-comfort izakaya" dishes, designed to combine the casual atmosphere of traditional Japanese cuisine with the familiarity of comfort food. The menu features items like the SOZO BAO-GER, DONBURI bowls, RAMEN, and GYOZA, all prepared with high-quality ingredients sourced from Japan and served through a user-friendly DIY ordering system.

The restaurant's interior reflects the ambiance of a Japanese home, with izakaya-themed decor spread across 1,200 square feet. Guests are greeted by traditional Japanese Noren banners, natural wood moldings, and a shoji-inspired ceiling, creating a cozy and intimate dining space. A striking glossy red wall with a large glass window showcases the culinary team in action, while a Zen garden provides a peaceful retreat.

In addition to its food offerings, SŌZŌ provides a carefully curated beverage selection, including in-house drinks, frappes with boba, and Kombucha, designed to complement the diverse flavors of the menu.

Chef Parvez Khan expressed the restaurant’s vision stating, "At Sozo, the vision is to revolutionize Japanese dining by merging the convenience of modern self-order fast food with the immersive experience of a traditional izakaya." Partner Sameer Tirani added, “Our aim is to create a seamless, authentic, and value-driven dining experience that stands out by integrating traditional Japanese culinary art with modern service efficiencies.
