Restaurant India News: The Cheesecake Factory Bakery Launches in India with 55-Store Expansion Plan

The Cheesecake Factory Bakery, the international bakery arm linked to The Cheesecake Factory, has formally entered the Indian market through a strategic partnership with The Gourmet Cafe. The launch marks the brand’s debut in India’s organised café and dessert retail segment, positioning it within one of the fastest-growing premium consumption markets globally.

Through this partnership, The Gourmet Cafe will roll out The Cheesecake Factory Bakery’s dessert and bakery portfolio for Indian consumers. The move signals a structured entry strategy built around premium café formats and branded dessert retail, rather than a limited product placement model.

Masthan Adam, Founder and CEO of The Gourmet Café, said, “We see strong demand in India for globally recognized dessert brands and premium café experiences. Bringing The Cheesecake Factory Bakery® to India is a significant step in our journey to introduce world-class dessert offerings to Indian consumers through The Gourmet Café platform.”

The rollout will begin with the first store in Bengaluru, followed by phased expansion across major metropolitan cities. Under its current roadmap, The Gourmet Cafe plans to open 55 stores across India over the next 5 years, creating a national café network built around international dessert partnerships. In the immediate term, the company has signed agreements with 4 malls to launch 6 stores this year across key consumption markets.

The entry reflects sustained demand for premium dessert-led formats within organised retail environments such as malls and high-street clusters. India’s base of globally exposed consumers, higher discretionary spending patterns, and increasing appetite for branded café experiences continue to attract international bakery concepts.

The arrival of The Cheesecake Factory Bakery adds another international name to India’s competitive dessert segment, further intensifying activity in the premium café and bakery category. For mall operators, developers, and hospitality-led retail formats, such partnerships indicate continued confidence in India as a priority expansion market for global food and beverage brands.
