Restaurant India News: Foodstories Enters Mumbai with Bandra Flagship and 60-Minute Delivery Model

Food lifestyle platform Foodstories has entered the Mumbai market with the launch of flagship destinations in Bandra and Lokhandwala, marking a significant expansion for the business founded by Avni and Ashni Biyani. The company is positioning itself at the intersection of food retail, experiences and community engagement, reflecting evolving consumer demand for more immersive food and beverage concepts.

Alongside the store launch, Foodstories has introduced its mobile application and a Mumbai-based fulfilment network that enables deliveries across the city in under 60 minutes. The move signals the company's focus on building an omnichannel presence that combines physical retail with convenience-led digital services.

The concept brings together farmers, producers, artisans, chefs and emerging food brands through a curated retail and experience-driven format. The stores feature several in-house concepts, including That Grocery Café, which connects ingredients with prepared food offerings, That Bev Bar, focused on beverages and hydration, and That Bake Shop, led by award-winning pastry educator Chef Dean Rodrigues.

Fresh food preparation remains a key component of the model, with offerings such as a fresh pasta bar by Chef Aabhas Mehrotra, live spice grinding, freshly roasted nuts, made-to-order nut butters and an operational flour mill developed in partnership with Two Brothers Organic Farms. The stores also include The Tea Library, a dedicated tea-focused section designed around product discovery and education.

Avni Biyani, Co-Founder, said, "At Foodstories, we believe food is one of the most powerful ways people express who they are. The choices we make every day shape our wellbeing, rituals and culture. We celebrate the farmers, producers, bakers and artisans behind every ingredient because understanding where food comes from changes how we experience it. Foodstories exists to make food more joyful, intentional and connected."

The company is also building a specialist-led ecosystem that includes bakers, farmers, chefs and category experts, while providing a platform for emerging Indian food brands and producers. Customers can interact with the brand through physical stores, dedicated relationship managers, the company's website and app, as well as its rapid delivery service.

Ashni Biyani, Co-Founder, said, "Mumbai is a city that has always embraced ambition, creativity and culture, and nowhere is that more visible than Bandra. Foodstories was built for this consumer. We wanted to create a destination where discovery becomes part of everyday life; where buying ingredients can lead to a conversation with a maker, a tasting or an entirely new food experience. We're not simply opening stores in Mumbai. We're building a platform for modern food culture."

The launch highlights a broader shift within the food retail and hospitality sectors, where consumers are increasingly seeking experiential formats that combine dining, shopping, education and community engagement. With its entry into Mumbai, Foodstories is aiming to establish a presence in this emerging category while expanding access through both physical locations and digital channels.
