
McDonald’s India – North and East marked World Food Safety Day with a week-long operational initiative aimed at strengthening food safety awareness and compliance across its restaurant network. The program was conducted in more than 50 cities, including Delhi-NCR, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Kota, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kolkata, Bhuvneshwar, Guwahati, Siliguri, Jammu, Pathankot, Shimla, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandhar, among others.
As part of the initiative, more than 5,000 restaurant employees participated in dedicated workshops designed to refresh and enhance their understanding of food safety standards and operational best practices. The training sessions focused on critical areas such as food handling procedures, personal and equipment hygiene, sanitation protocols, prevention of cross-contamination, temperature management throughout the supply chain, water safety, oil quality monitoring, pest control, packaging safety and storage management.
The company also organised kitchen walkthroughs at select restaurants, providing stakeholders with an opportunity to observe food safety processes and operational controls implemented across restaurant locations. During these sessions, participants were introduced to practices including the segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian products, packaging material management, raw material storage procedures and warehouse operations. The walkthroughs also highlighted employee development initiatives and hygiene measures followed across the network.

The initiative reflects the growing emphasis within the restaurant industry on strengthening food safety frameworks through workforce training and operational monitoring. McDonald’s India – North and East said it will continue to focus on employee capability-building, collaboration with supplier partners and regular operational reviews as part of its broader food quality management strategy. As the company expands its presence across markets, it remains focused on investments in people, processes and technology to support consistent food safety standards across its operations.
