Restaurant India News: Conçu Opens First Mumbai Café in Colaba After 14 Years in Hyderabad

Conçu has entered the Mumbai market with the launch of its first outlet in Colaba, marking the brand’s expansion beyond Hyderabad and Bengaluru after operating for 14 years in the premium café and patisserie segment.

The new outlet reflects the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence in metro markets where demand for experiential cafés, artisanal desserts, and all-day dining formats continues to rise. Conçu started as a made-to-order cake boutique in Hyderabad and has since expanded into a multi-city café business.

Located in Colaba’s Pasta Lane area, the Mumbai outlet spans 2,700 sq. ft. and has been designed by Essajees Atelier. The café combines bakery retail, dine-in, and evening beverage-led experiences under one format, a model increasingly being adopted by premium hospitality operators to improve day-long customer engagement.

The outlet operates six days a week and introduces a weekend breakfast menu featuring eggs, pancakes, smoothie bowls, and avocado-based dishes. Its beverage portfolio includes coffee, teas, matcha, and ube-based drinks, while the larger menu includes pizzas, salads, pastas, small plates, pastries, and made-to-order cakes.

The Colaba location has also been designed to shift formats through the day, operating as a café and casual work-friendly environment during daytime hours before transitioning into a bar-focused evening service. The Mumbai expansion is being led by founders Swati Upadhyay and Sahil Taneja, who have built the brand around premium café dining and dessert-led retail.

The move comes at a time when café chains and boutique patisserie brands are expanding aggressively across high-density urban markets, particularly in locations where consumers are spending more on premium dining, specialty coffee, and social café experiences.
