Chalu Apna Desi Chinese, the Indian-Chinese restaurant chain, is expanding its footprint beyond retail in India with the launch of its first international outlet in Ontario, Canada, in June 2024. After establishing over 200 outlets across 33 Indian cities, the brand is now introducing its Desi Chinese cuisine to a global audience.
Founded by Vibhanshu Mishra in 2020, Chalu Apna Desi Chinese has built its reputation on blending Indian spices with Chinese flavors. The brand, known for dishes like Hakka Noodles with an Indian twist and Manchurian curries, recorded a turnover of Rs 53 crore in FY23 and is currently valued at Rs 100 crore.
The first Canadian outlet is located at Trafalgar Crossing, with a plan to establish 25 locations in Canada by the end of 2025. Additionally, the company is looking to expand into the U.S. market, starting with 10 outlets in Arizona.
Vibhanshu Mishra, Founder of Chalu Apna Desi Chinese stated, "Bringing Chalu Apna Desi Chinese to Canada was a dream come true. Our vision has always been to revolutionize the fast-food industry by offering a unique blend of quirky, fusion of Desi Chinese cuisine that excites the taste buds and brings cultures together. Canada is the perfect place to start our global journey due to its rich diversity and love for global cuisine, to share our passion for Desi Chinese."
The Canadian outlet will maintain the brand’s focus on freshness and quality, offering quick service, home delivery, takeaway, and dine-in options. The restaurant will continue to use natural ingredients while avoiding added colors and artificial enhancers like Ajinomoto.
As part of its international expansion, the company expects a 70 percent revenue growth this fiscal year, leveraging its existing market presence and focus on quality cuisine. With plans to grow both in India and internationally, Chalu Apna Desi Chinese is positioning itself for further expansion in the fast-food segment.
