Amrut Launches Kranthi to Mark India’s Single Malt Whisky Revolution

Amrut Distilleries has launched Amrut Kranthi, a new Indian single malt positioned around the evolution of the country’s whisky industry and the growing global recognition of Indian single malts. The launch comes as the Indian single malt category has grown to nearly seven lakh cases, with an estimated value of around Rs 1,000 crore.

The company said Kranthi builds on more than two decades of work in Indian single malt production, following Amrut’s entry into the international single malt market at a time when the category was largely associated with Scotland.

Bottled at 40% ABV, Amrut Kranthi has been developed through research into whisky traditions, maturation and flavour development, according to the company. The launch also draws on Amrut’s experience in producing Indian single malt whisky and its efforts to establish the category in international markets.

The launch event brought together guests from multiple nationalities and several Indian states, reflecting the increasing international interest in Indian single malts. The category’s growth also reflects a wider shift in the premium spirits market, with Indian producers increasingly competing in segments traditionally dominated by international whisky-producing regions.

Rakshit N. Jagdale, Managing Director, Amrut Distilleries, said, “A confident nation cannot rely forever on borrowed symbols of prestige. The next chapter of global luxury will be shaped by Indian brands, Indian craftsmanship, and Indian self-belief. With Kranthi, we celebrate a revolution in mindset —the belief that when the world looks for the finest, it can look to India, and to Amrut as a proud flag bearer of that new era.

This launch is also a tribute to my beloved father, Neelkanth Rao Jagdale, whose vision, courage, and pioneering spirit laid the foundation for India's single malt journey and inspired us to dream beyond boundaries.”

The company said Kranthi is intended to mark Amrut’s progression from an early entrant in the Indian single malt segment to a brand participating in the category’s international growth.
