6 Ballygunge Place, a prominent restaurant from Kolkata renowned for its traditional Bengali cuisine, has opened its first outlet outside its home city at the Eldeco Center in Malviya Nagar, Delhi. This marks a significant milestone for the brand, introducing the rich flavors of Bengal to Delhi's diverse culinary scene.
Established in 2003 by Savourites Hospitality Pvt Ltd, 6 Ballygunge Place has been a key player in Kolkata's fine dining sector, known for its adherence to traditional recipes and elegant service. The Kolkata location is housed in a historic bungalow and was the first retail outlet in India to register its address as a trademark. The expansion into Delhi represents an opportunity for residents to experience Kolkata’s culinary heritage within their city.
Delhi, with its vibrant food culture and a significant proportion of consumers seeking diverse dining experiences, offers an ideal market for this expansion. Approximately 45 percent of Delhi's consumers, particularly Gen Z and millennials, are interested in unique dining options. Given that Delhiites dine out an average of nine times a month, with a notable portion of these visits to upscale restaurants, the introduction of 6 Ballygunge Place's authentic Bengali menu is well-timed to meet this demand.
Swaminathan Ramani, Partner at Savourites Hospitality Pvt Ltd said, "Delhi represents a confluence of cultures and cuisines, making it the perfect city for our first expansion. We are excited to bring the distinct flavors of Bengal to Delhi’s food enthusiasts. We believe our traditional dishes will appeal to both Bengali food lovers and those eager to try something new."
The Delhi outlet aims to replicate the authentic dining experience of its Kolkata counterpart, offering a range of classic Bengali dishes such as Shorshe Ilish (Hilsa Fish in Mustard Sauce), Chingri Malai Curry (Prawn in Coconut Cream), Kosha Mangsho (Slow-Cooked Mutton), and a selection of traditional sweets like Roshogolla and Sandesh. Each dish is crafted using fresh ingredients and traditional methods to ensure an authentic taste.
Chef Sushanta Sengupta, Partner at Savourites Hospitality Pvt Ltd said, “We are pleased to bring Kolkata’s rich culinary heritage to Delhi. Our menu features classic Bengali dishes prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic recipes, aiming to offer Delhiites a genuine taste of Bengal with a modern touch."
Aninda Palit, also a Partner at Savourites Hospitality Pvt Ltd added, “We are confident that our commitment to authentic flavors and high quality will resonate with Delhi’s food lovers and make us a valued addition to the city's dining options.”
