Sazerac Launches American Wolf and Southern Comfort Reserve Whiskey in India

Sazerac Company has entered a new phase of its India expansion with the launch of two American whiskey brands, American Wolf Double Gold Blended Whiskey and Southern Comfort Reserve Whiskey. Both expressions combine American whiskey with Indian grain and malt spirits and are being introduced without artificial flavouring.

The brands will initially be available in Pune, Nagpur and Nashik, beginning August 2026, before a phased rollout across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh through the remainder of the year. The move expands Sazerac’s presence in India, where demand for international whiskey expressions continues to develop.

“India represents an exciting and rapidly evolving whiskey market, and we see a strong opportunity to introduce consumers to the taste, character and heritage of American whiskey,” said Diego Bianchi, Vice President-Global Marketing, Sazerac. “With American Wolf and Southern Comfort Reserve Whiskey, we are bringing two very different expressions to the market -one rooted in boldness, ambition and individuality, and the other in approachability, ease and comfort. Together, they represent our belief that there is room for more diverse whiskey experiences in India.”

American Wolf is being introduced as a blend of American whiskey with selected Indian grain and malt spirits. The brand will initially be sold in 750ml, 180ml and 90ml formats, with the 750ml bottle priced at approximately Rs 1,070, subject to state taxes and applicable pricing regulations. The company said the expression can be served neat, on the rocks or with soda.

Southern Comfort Reserve Whiskey marks the return of the Southern Comfort name to India following its earlier presence in the country during the 1990s. The new expression combines American whiskey with Indian malt and grain spirit and is initially being offered in 750ml, with 180ml and 90ml formats planned subsequently. The 750ml bottle will retail at approximately Rs 1,500, subject to applicable state taxes and pricing regulations.

“India is the world’s largest whiskey market, and its consumers are increasingly exploring new expressions, international cues and differentiated choices,” said Bianch. “As Indian consumers draw growing inspiration from American lifestyle, entertainment and culture, we see a clear opportunity to bring that same style to what's in the glass. American Wolf and Southern Comfort are both built on that idea, just for two very different occasions”

The initial rollout through Pune, Nagpur and Nashik will give the two brands an entry point into Maharashtra before distribution expands to additional states. The launches add two new international-style whiskey options to the premium spirits category across retail outlets, bars and restaurants in the markets where they become available.
