Summit Hotels & Resorts has expanded its footprint in the Eastern Himalayan hospitality market with the launch of Rungkhung Village Resort in Dirang under The Signature Collection, as hotel operators continue to target emerging leisure destinations across Northeast India.
Located in the Dirang Valley overlooking the Kameng River, the boutique resort marks the company’s continued focus on experience-driven hospitality in smaller mountain destinations that are witnessing rising traveller interest.
The property has been developed as a low-density retreat catering to leisure travellers seeking longer and quieter stays away from crowded hill station markets. The resort combines local Arunachali design elements with modern hospitality infrastructure, reflecting a broader industry trend toward destination-led boutique properties.
The hotel features Premium View Rooms and Junior Suites equipped with private balconies facing the river and valley landscape. Interiors have been designed with locally influenced aesthetics alongside contemporary amenities aimed at premium leisure guests.
Food and beverage operations at the property include an all-day dining restaurant serving multi-cuisine offerings along with regional Northeast dishes. Outdoor guest engagement areas such as landscaped gardens, bonfire spaces, and relaxation zones have also been integrated into the overall stay experience.
The resort additionally offers curated local experiences and nature-focused activities, aligning with the growing demand for experiential and slower travel formats in India’s domestic tourism market.
Sumit Mitruka, CEO, Summit Hotels & Resorts, said, “Dirang is an emerging destination with immense natural appeal, and we see growing interest from travellers looking for less crowded, experience-driven locations. Our approach has been to create a property that stays true to the destination while offering the comfort and consistency that guests expect from the Summit brand.”
The addition of Rungkhung Village Resort further strengthens Summit Hotels & Resorts presence across the Eastern Himalayan belt, where hospitality brands are increasingly expanding into secondary and emerging tourism markets with boutique and experiential stay formats.
