IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Makson India Hospitality Pvt Ltd for the development of InterContinental Resort Jaipur Achrol, strengthening its expansion strategy in India’s luxury leisure and destination wedding market.
Scheduled to open in early 2030, the 225-key resort will include 36 villas and 189 guest rooms. The project will be developed on a 16-acre site along the Delhi–Jaipur Road in Achrol, an emerging hospitality and leisure corridor near Jaipur.
The signing marks the fourth IHG-branded property within Jaipur city limits and the second InterContinental-branded hotel in the market, reflecting increasing competition among global hotel operators to expand across India’s high-growth leisure destinations. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts currently operates more than 240 hotels globally, with 104 additional properties in the pipeline.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, “We are delighted to partner with Makson India Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. to launch InterContinental Resort Jaipur Achrol. India continues to present significant opportunities in the luxury hospitality segment, driven by growing demand for leisure experiences and destination-led celebrations. This signing reflects our continued commitment to strengthening IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the country and reinforces our ambition to be the partner of choice for luxury hospitality in India.”
He further added, “Achrol is emerging as a compelling destination in close proximity to Jaipur, offering a unique combination of heritage, nature, and accessibility. With InterContinental Resort Jaipur Achrol, we aim to create a landmark destination that caters to leisure travellers as well as large-scale social celebrations.”
The development comes as Jaipur continues to witness strong tourism and hospitality demand driven by its position within India’s Golden Triangle tourism circuit and its growing role in the destination wedding segment. Industry demand for upscale event venues and luxury resort inventory in Rajasthan has continued to rise in recent years.
Rajan Jhiriwal, Director, Makson India Hospitality Pvt Ltd, said, “We are delighted to partner with IHG Hotels & Resorts to introduce the iconic InterContinental brand to Achrol, Rajasthan. This association represents an important milestone in our group’s long-term vision of creating landmark hospitality assets that meet the highest international standards while remaining deeply rooted in the character, culture, and heritage of their destination.”
Robin Jhiriwal, Director, Makson India Hospitality Pvt Ltd, added, “Our vision is to develop hospitality destinations that deliver enduring value to guests, the community, and all stakeholders. With InterContinental Resort Jaipur Achrol, we aim to create a resort that elevates the region's luxury hospitality landscape while showcasing Rajasthan’s timeless appeal through thoughtful design, authentic experiences, and world-class service.”
The resort will include four dining outlets comprising an all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurant, lobby lounge, and pool bar. The property will also feature two large event venues including a ballroom, targeting weddings, conferences, and social events. Other planned facilities include a spa, fitness centre, swimming pool, club lounge, retail outlets, and parking infrastructure.
With this agreement, IHG Hotels & Resorts continues to scale its India operations, particularly in the luxury and lifestyle segment. The company currently operates 52 hotels across six brands in India, including Six Senses, Crowne Plaza, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express. It also has 98 hotels under development as part of its strategy to cross 400 open and pipeline hotels in India over the next five years.
