Restaurant India News: Kerten Hospitality Enters India with 1,000-Key Expansion Plan

Ireland-based Kerten Hospitality has announced its entry into the Indian market, marking a significant step in its international expansion strategy. The company plans to develop 1,000 keys in its initial phase, positioning India as a key growth market amid increasing demand for experience-focused hospitality formats.

The move comes at a time when India’s travel and hospitality sector is witnessing strong growth, driven by changing consumer behaviour and rising interest in design-led and culturally immersive stays. Kerten Hospitality’s entry reflects this shift, with a focus on differentiated offerings rather than standardised hotel models.

As part of its market entry, the company will introduce three of its in-house brands targeting different segments. The House Hotel will focus on luxury stays with a strong emphasis on local cultural integration, while Cloud7 Hotels will cater to the lifestyle segment with a design-driven approach. HOSME will address the affordable segment, with a focus on social and community-oriented living spaces aimed at younger travellers.

The expansion highlights a broader transition in hospitality, where travellers are moving away from uniform hotel experiences and seeking properties that reflect local identity. Kerten Hospitality’s operating model, described as “bespoke-at-scale,” is built around integrating local elements into each property while maintaining consistent global standards.

The strategy aligns with India’s evolving traveller base, particularly younger consumers who prioritise digital engagement, social interaction, and culturally relevant experiences. This shift is influencing how new hospitality brands are designed and positioned in the market.

A key aspect of Kerten Hospitality’s approach is its flexible, owner-focused development model. Instead of fixed brand standards, the company offers adaptable frameworks that allow developers to customise projects according to local requirements, while leveraging the group’s expertise in operations, hiring, and marketing. This structure is expected to appeal to Indian developers seeking scalable yet differentiated hospitality concepts.

The company’s India entry follows a period of international expansion, during which it reported growth in revenue, profitability, and management fees in 2025. Kerten Hospitality currently has 60 projects under development across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, covering hotels, serviced residences, and mixed-use lifestyle developments.

With the establishment of a dedicated India office, the company has begun engaging with developers across key markets. Its entry reflects increasing global interest in India as a destination for next-generation hospitality development, where design, cultural integration, and community-led experiences are becoming central to new projects.
