
Marriott International has appointed Elton Hurtis as General Manager of Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center, marking a leadership transition at one of its key properties in India. In his new role, Hurtis will focus on strengthening the hotel’s market positioning, with an emphasis on operational efficiency, team management, and consistent guest experience delivery.
Hurtis brings close to three decades of experience in the hospitality industry, including 24 years with Marriott International. His leadership approach has been shaped by long-term performance focus and team-led operations, with a track record of managing large-scale hotel environments.
Prior to this appointment, he served as General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Colombo, where he oversaw operations at a five-star property within a mixed-use development, contributing to its positioning and operational stability. His previous roles also include leadership positions at Sheraton Colombo, Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, and the opening phase of Courtyard by Marriott Bhopal. These assignments have been associated with sustained guest satisfaction metrics, owner engagement, and team development.
Within the industry, Hurtis is recognised for focusing on internal culture as a driver of long-term performance, with an emphasis on talent development, accountability, and service consistency. His management style aligns with Marriott’s broader strategy of strengthening brand positioning through operational discipline and workforce engagement.
