Restaurant India News: Karigari by Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi Opens First Outlet in Meerut

Karigari by Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi has expanded its footprint with the launch of its first outlet in Meerut, taking the brand’s total presence in India to 13 restaurants. The opening marks the entry of the North Indian fine-dining chain into a new market and adds to its ongoing expansion across the country.

The restaurant officially opened on 5th June 2026 with a launch event titled "Raj Tilak Utsav." Prior to the opening, the brand hosted a preview event, "Sharbat-e-Shaam, Meerut Ke Naam," on 4th June 2026 for business leaders, entrepreneurs, social figures and members of the local community.

Spread across more than 3,000 square feet, the restaurant has been designed around the theme of Indian craftsmanship. The space incorporates references to artisans, sports personalities, artists and textile craftsmen, while also featuring a dedicated Chef's Coat Wall that highlights culinary professionals and their contributions to the industry.

The outlet also includes a Private Dining Room (PDR), catering to private celebrations, corporate meetings and small-group gatherings. The addition reflects the growing importance of flexible dining formats and event-driven revenue opportunities within the restaurant sector.

Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi said, "Karigari has always been about celebrating the people behind the craft. Every dish, every design element, and every experience at Karigari is dedicated to the spirit of the karigar. We are delighted to bring this philosophy to Meerut and look forward to creating a destination that the city can proudly call its own."

Yogesh Sharma, Founder & CEO of Karigari, added, "Meerut is a city with a rich cultural legacy. With Karigari's arrival, we aim to offer not just exceptional food, but an experience that honours the artisans and creators who inspire us every day."

The Meerut outlet has been launched in partnership with franchise operators Tanishk Vashishtha and Atul Vashishtha. The opening highlights the continued expansion of organised dining brands into emerging markets, where consumer demand for premium dining experiences and destination-led restaurant formats continues to grow.

With the addition of the Meerut restaurant, Karigari continues to strengthen its presence in the North Indian dining segment while expanding into cities beyond traditional metropolitan markets.
