Restaurant India News: JW Marriott Appoints Debalina Duttagupta as Director of Rooms

JW Marriott has appointed Debalina Duttagupta as Director of Rooms as the hospitality brand sharpens its focus on guest experience management and operational performance across its luxury hotel portfolio. The appointment reflects the increasing emphasis luxury hotel operators are placing on rooms division leadership, service consistency, revenue optimisation, and guest satisfaction in a highly competitive hospitality market.

Debalina brings more than 10 years of experience across premium hospitality brands, with expertise spanning pre-opening operations, rooms revenue management, service execution, and team development.

Prior to this role, she served as Rooms Division Manager at JW Marriott Prestige Golfshire, where she played a key role in the hotel’s pre-opening and operational stabilisation phase. She led the development of operational processes and managed a team of more than 50 associates.

Under her leadership, the property recorded guest satisfaction scores of over 85 percent across key service metrics while maintaining cost controls and supporting rooms revenue growth.

Her hospitality experience also includes leadership roles at Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway and Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield, where she worked across front office operations, guest engagement initiatives, and ancillary revenue generation.

Debalina was also recognised among the top contenders for Front Office Manager of the Year (Luxury to Upper Upscale) at the Hotelier India Awards 2023. An alumna of Edinburgh Napier University, she brings international academic exposure along with operational experience within India’s luxury hospitality market.

In her new role, she will oversee the rooms division with a focus on guest satisfaction, revenue performance, operational execution, and service delivery standards. The appointment comes as luxury hotel brands continue investing in leadership talent to strengthen customer retention, operational efficiency, and premium service positioning across India’s growing hospitality sector.
