Restaurant India News: Fern Hotels Signs New Resort in Deoghar to Tap Growing Tourism Demand

The Fern Hotels & Resorts has signed a new property in Deoghar, Jharkhand, as it expands its presence in emerging destinations across Eastern India. The upcoming project, The Fern Resort & Spa Deoghar, Series by Marriott, reflects the group’s focus on tapping into destinations witnessing rising tourism and infrastructure development.

The development is positioned to strengthen the company’s footprint in a market traditionally driven by pilgrimage travel but now seeing diversification into leisure and experiential tourism.

Suhail Kannampilly, Managing Director, The Fern Hotels & Resorts, said, “With Deoghars evolving beyond a pilgrimage destination into a well-rounded travel hub, we see strong potential for a resort-led offering. This addition aligns with our focus on creating immersive stay experiences in emerging locations. It also reinforces our commitment to expanding in destinations with strong cultural and tourism appeal.”

The project is being developed in collaboration with Vama Ventures, indicating continued partnerships between operators and local developers to scale hospitality infrastructure in Tier II and Tier III markets.

Akash Adukia, Partner, Vama Ventures, said, “This collaboration enables us to introduce a thoughtfully designed resort that enhances Deoghar’s hospitality landscape. We look forward to delivering a stay experience that is both enriching and memorable for our guests. The project is envisioned to cater seamlessly to both spiritual visitors and leisure travellers.”

The property is planned with 101 rooms and suites, targeting both business and leisure demand. It will include an all-day dining restaurant, along with a poolside lounge restaurant and bar, catering to both resident guests and local demand for dining and social spaces.

Scheduled for opening in the first half of 2029, the project signals long-term confidence in Deoghar’s growth trajectory. The move aligns with a broader industry trend where hotel operators are investing in culturally significant but underpenetrated markets to diversify revenue streams and capture new demand segments.
