Restaurant India News: Colaba’s Cult Favourite Jia: The Oriental Kitchen Reopens in Mumbai

Colaba’s beloved oriental dining destination, JIA: The Oriental Kitchen reopens in Mumbai. JIA returns in a refreshing new avatar, blending timeless Asian elegance with contemporary flair. Asian cuisine experts Neville and Michelle Vazifdar, the Founders behind Royal China and Kuai Kitchen has created this space to unite the best of Chinese, Japanese, and Thai flavours under one roof.

Known for its signature mix of flavour, finesse, and style, this new chapter celebrates reinvention with striking interiors, exciting new dishes, and the same soulful charm that made it a Mumbai favourite.

“JIA has always been about creating an experience that’s soulful, not just sophisticated,” shares Neville and Michelle Vazifdar, Founders of JIA: The Oriental Kitchen. “With this new menu and interior design, we wanted to bring together everything our guests love: the familiarity of flavour and the comfort of connection. Every element, from the lighting to the last bite, is meant to make people pause and savour.”

JIA’s new menu strikes the perfect balance between authenticity and innovation, reimagining beloved Asian classics with a modern twist. The Hamachi Carpaccio, topped with jalapeño and ponzu, arrives like art on a plate with delicate, vibrant, and perfectly spiced. The Sake Salmon Carpaccio melts in the mouth, while the Avocado Carpaccio with crab ceviche adds a refreshing coastal note.

For purists, the Nigiri and Sashimi selections are pure craftsmanship. Each bite, be it the buttery Hamachi Yellowtail, silky Sake Salmon, or ruby-red Maguro Tuna Akami offers quiet perfection. Vegetarians aren’t left behind either, with creations like Avocado Nigiri, Shiitake Mushroom, and Bell Pepper Nigiri, all treated with the same elegant simplicity.

Every plate at JIA is meant to be an experience of textures, flavours, and the pauses between courses come together to create something that feels more like a slow ritual than a meal. With JIA’s revamp, it invites guests old and new to rediscover what makes this space truly special.
