Chaitanya is set to expand its footprint with a new outlet in Thane, marking its entry into a growing suburban dining market. The brand, which originated in Malvan and later established a strong presence in Mumbai, continues to focus on regional cuisine and consistency in product delivery.
The new outlet is designed as a 90-seater spread across the ground and first floor, aligning with mid-sized casual dining formats that cater to both family dining and group occasions. The layout has been structured to accommodate varied dining needs while maintaining operational flexibility.
The expansion reflects sustained demand for regional Indian cuisine in urban and suburban markets. The brand has retained its existing menu strategy, focusing on Malvani dishes prepared using ingredients sourced directly from Malvan, including coconuts, kokum, tamarind, and seafood. This sourcing model supports consistency in taste and product differentiation.
Core menu items include Surmai Fry, Bombil Fry, Fried Prawns, Chicken Sukka, and Mutton Masala, along with the fish curry, rice, and solkadhi combination, which remains a key driver of repeat consumption. The offering continues to include thali formats, which are positioned around portion size and value.
The Thane outlet also introduces a tandoor section, adding items such as Pomfret Tandoor, Roasted Kaleji, and Tandoor Crab, indicating a measured expansion of the menu without altering the core positioning. The brand continues to operate with a supply chain linked to Malvan, working with local communities for ingredient sourcing. This approach supports both quality control and long-term sourcing stability.
Surekha Walke, Founder, said, “For us, it has always been simple - people love to eat, and we love to feed. This new space in Thane is our way of bringing that same love a little closer to our guests. We have not changed our taste, and we never will. What we have tried to do is create a space where people can sit more comfortably, spend more time, and enjoy their meal the way it is meant to be. We look forward to welcoming everyone and becoming a part of Thane, just like Thane has always been a part of us.”
The move highlights how legacy regional brands are expanding into adjacent urban markets to capture demand beyond core city locations. The focus on consistent menu offerings, controlled expansion, and familiar dining formats reflects a broader strategy among established players to scale without repositioning their core identity.
