Thane’s food and beverage market has added a new entrant with the launch of Benne Reserve, a restaurant concept centred on Karnataka cuisine, interpreted through a more indulgent and contemporary format. The outlet positions itself within the growing demand for regional Indian food experiences that combine familiarity with differentiated presentation and flavour depth.
Founded by Rohit Malviy, the brand aims to tap into both nostalgia-driven consumption and evolving urban dining preferences. Speaking about the concept, Malviy said, “Benne Reserve is our way of bringing the comfort and nostalgia of Karnataka’s cuisine to the city, but with a bold, expressive twist. Every dish is designed to feel familiar yet exciting, something that stays with you beyond the meal.”
The menu strategy focuses on core South Indian staples, with an emphasis on richness and flavour intensity. The Benne Garlic Dosa is positioned as a high-impact dish, featuring a crisp texture layered with garlic and finished with butter. The Ghee Podi Thatte Idli targets consumers seeking comfort-led options, combining soft idlis with ghee and spiced podi. Another key offering is the Donne Biryani, which is slow-cooked and presented in a traditional format, aligning with the broader trend of regional authenticity in premium casual dining.
Dessert offerings include Mysore Pak, prepared with a focus on texture and richness, reinforcing the brand’s emphasis on indulgence-led consumption. Alongside its core menu, the restaurant has introduced seasonal items to drive repeat visits and relevance. These include Iced Filter Coffee, positioned as a cold beverage option for warmer months, along with Coffee Softy and Mango Softy, which cater to demand for nostalgic yet updated dessert formats.
The launch reflects a wider shift in India’s dining sector, where regional cuisines are being repositioned with clearer brand identities and elevated formats. Operators are increasingly focusing on menu storytelling, ingredient authenticity, and experience-led dining to differentiate in a competitive market.
With its entry into Thane, Benne Reserve is targeting a segment that values both familiarity and novelty, indicating a continued opportunity for specialised regional concepts to scale within urban consumption hubs.
