India’s most awarded single malt whisky brand, Paul John Indian Single Malt, has introduced a new Single Cask expression in partnership with Bengaluru Duty Free. This marks the third release in a limited-edition series created exclusively for airport retail. The product will be available to departing passengers at Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru.
The latest release, Single Cask Unpeated, is restricted to 192 bottles, positioning it as a niche offering within the travel retail segment. Unlike standard whisky expressions that are blended from multiple casks to maintain uniformity, this variant is sourced from a single barrel, resulting in a distinct and non-replicable profile. The whisky has been distilled and matured in Goa, reflecting the brand’s tropical ageing conditions.
Bottled at 56 percent ABV and priced at Rs 14,950 for a 70cl format, the expression features a deep gold appearance. The aroma includes dark fruit notes combined with caramel, vanilla, and manuka honey, along with elements of leather, tobacco, and spiced orange cake. On tasting, it delivers flavours of dark chocolate, brown sugar, and black cherry, supported by toasted nuts, vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper. The finish is extended, with notes of oak tannins, vanilla cream, leather, dried fruits, and cocoa.
The packaging integrates a local design element, created by artist Paul Fernandes. It showcases an illustrated view of Commercial Street, reflecting a familiar urban setting in Bengaluru. Fernandes is recognised for his “Bangalore Pictorial” series, which captures everyday city life through illustrated formats.
Paul P John, Founder and Chairman, John Distilleries Pvt. Ltd., said, “Following the strong response to the first two editions, we are pleased to introduce the third edition of this special single cask release. These expressions are particularly meaningful as they capture the unique character of an individual cask. The limited release reflects the rich complexity that defines our Single Malt Whisky, and we’re excited for travellers & whisky enthusiasts passing through Bengaluru to discover this unique expression.”
This collaboration highlights a growing trend in airport retail, where exclusive, limited-volume products are being used to drive premium purchases and enhance passenger engagement. The continued partnership between Paul John Indian Single Malt Whisky and Bengaluru Duty Free reflects a focused approach towards differentiated offerings in travel retail, while aligning with region-specific cultural elements.
