Vincenzo Capuano Opens First India Outlet in Mumbai

Vincenzo Capuano has entered the Indian market with the launch of its first restaurant at Lodha Signet in Lower Parel, Mumbai. Founded by World Champion of Contemporary Pizza 2022, Vincenzo Capuano, the brand's India debut marks another step in its international expansion strategy after establishing a presence across Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Kosovo, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Capuano, a third-generation Neapolitan pizzaiolo, learned the craft from his grandfather Vincenzo and father Luigi in Naples. Today, the brand operates more than 50 locations worldwide and was ranked 12th in the 50 Top World Artisan Pizza Chains in 2024 and 13th in 2025.

The Mumbai outlet introduces the brand's signature Cloud Pizza, prepared using a 30-hour Biga-fermented dough made with Nuvola Super flour developed in collaboration with Mulino Caputo. The pizzas are served with the brand's signature golden scissors, which are used instead of traditional pizza cutters.

Vincenzo Capuano, Founder, said, "India has one of the most curious, food-forward dining communities in the world. Mumbai was always where this had to begin. We are not bringing a pizza to India, we are bringing a culture, a philosophy, and a craft that took three generations and one World Championship to perfect."

The India menu combines the brand's international offerings with locally developed options. Alongside pizzas such as Diavola alla Nonno Enzo, Margherita con Bufala, Napolitudine and Tetti Illuminati, the restaurant has introduced India-focused variants including Chicken Tikka Pizza, Paneer Chimichurri Pizza, Pesto Basilico Pizza and Tartufo Pizza.

The menu also includes antipasti, pasta and dessert selections, while Jain-friendly offerings are available through a specially developed "No Root" San Marzano tomato sauce. Core ingredients including Caputo Nuvola flour, San Marzano tomatoes and Italian extra virgin olive oil are imported from Naples, while proteins and dairy products are sourced locally. The Mumbai restaurant is backed by founding partners Himanshu Bakhda, Ajay Kedia, Manish Bhansali and Rohan G Pai.

Rohan G Pai, Founding Partner, Vincenzo Capuano India, said, "India is in the middle of a third wave of pizza appreciation. The first wave was fast food. The second was casual Italian. The third - happening right now in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru - is about craft: sourdough, fermentation, artisanal toppings, and the story behind the dough. Vincenzo Capuano does not arrive in India as a trend. He arrives as the man who defined the trend."

The 110-seat restaurant features an open kitchen, live pizza-making counter and a full-service bar with Italian cocktails, draught beers and a curated wine programme. Following its launch period, the outlet will operate daily from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, with an average spend of approximately Rs 3,000 for two guests. The launch highlights the continued demand for premium international dining brands in India, particularly within the growing artisanal pizza and casual dining segment.
