United Breweries Limited has commissioned a new canning line at its Nizam Brewery in Telangana, expanding production capacity for its premium beer portfolio. The facility has commenced operations following the successful completion of its first product trial run of Kingfisher Ultra cans.
The new canning line is part of the Rs 900 million investment announced by the company in 2025 and has been designed primarily to manufacture select premium products under the Kingfisher and Heineken brands. With the addition of the new line, the brewery's annual production capacity has increased by 0.4 million hectolitres, taking its total capacity from 0.5 million hectolitres to 0.9 million hectolitres.
The expansion is aimed at supporting the growing consumer demand for canned beer in India and strengthening the company's premium beer portfolio. The facility will produce products including Kingfisher, Kingfisher Ultra and Heineken® and is expected to improve supply capabilities in one of India's largest beer markets.
According to the company, the project was completed without disrupting existing bottle production operations. The expansion also incorporated value engineering initiatives, including the reuse of existing infrastructure and operational solutions to optimise costs and improve execution timelines.
The commissioning of the new canning line is expected to strengthen United Breweries Limited's supply chain capabilities while supporting its long-term strategy focused on premiumisation, capacity expansion and meeting changing consumer preferences. The latest investment reflects the increasing demand for premium beer offerings and canned beverage formats within India's alcoholic beverage market, particularly across key consumption centres.
