Silk Road Coffee Company Opens 3,500 Sq. Ft. Roastery and Bakehouse in Versova

Silk Road Coffee Company has opened a 3,500 sq. ft. Roastery and Bakehouse in Versova, Mumbai, spread across two levels with capacity for over 150 guests. The new outlet combines in-house coffee roasting, baking, all-day dining and work and social spaces.

The Roastery forms the core of the operation, with beans sourced from small estate farmers and roasted in-house. The Bakehouse produces croissants, breads, pastries and savoury bakes throughout the day. The coffee programme includes premium beans and blends, an Espresso Bar, Manual Brew Bar and a Slayer espresso machine, along with Vietnamese coffee, matcha and coffee-based mocktails.

The all-day food menu covers breakfast, toast, sandwiches, salads, pasta and pizzas, alongside the bakery range. Dishes include Fungi Tartufo, made with shiitake, portobello and button mushrooms, avocado, feta and truffle oil on sourdough, and Burrata Shakshuka with baked eggs, spicy pomodoro, burrata and sourdough.

The menu also includes the Crossberg, which uses a croissant-based bun with jerk chicken, and Chocolate Banana Loaf. The Bakehouse offers croissants, pain au chocolat, almond croissants, puffs, artisanal pastries, sourdough bread and other house-baked breads.

Coffee remains central to the outlet's offering, with the Manual Brew Bar allowing customers to explore different beans and brewing methods. The Espresso Bar serves traditional espresso-based beverages, while newer options include Vietberry, a Vietnamese iced coffee with raspberries, and Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte, made with an in-house brown sugar cinnamon syrup, espresso and milk.

Other beverages include Tepache, Coconut Water Espresso and Espresso Tonic, expanding the coffee menu into fermented, refreshing and coffee-based drink formats.

The two-level space features large wooden doors opening into the Roastery and Bakehouse, allowing guests to see parts of the production process. A wooden spiral staircase connects to the first floor, which includes indoor and outdoor seating. Glass windows bring natural light into the space, while a large community table forms a central shared seating area.

"Silk Road was always imagined as more than a café. We wanted to create a space where coffee, food, art and people could come together naturally. From roasting our own beans and baking through the day to creating a space where people can work, meet, share a table or simply spend time, every part of Silk Road comes back to the idea of community." - Parth Suri from Silk Road Coffee Company

The outlet also includes a pet-friendly outdoor area. Its format brings together coffee roasting, baking, all-day dining and flexible seating, allowing the business to operate across coffee, bakery and casual dining occasions.
