The Fern Hotels & Resorts has signed a new hospitality project in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, further strengthening its expansion strategy in emerging business and travel markets. The upcoming property, The Fern Residency Chandrapur, Series by Marriott, will increase the group’s presence in Maharashtra to 46 operational and upcoming properties.
The signing highlights the continued growth of branded hospitality developments in tier II and industrial cities, where rising business activity and infrastructure growth are creating demand for organised hotel accommodation.
Suhail Kannampilly, Managing Director, The Fern Hotels & Resorts, said, “Maharashtra continues to be an important market in our expansion strategy, driven by growing business activity and evolving travel demand across emerging cities. The signing of The Fern Residency Chandrapur, Series by Marriott aligns with our vision to strengthen our footprint in high-potential destinations while delivering quality hospitality experiences that cater to the evolving needs of today’s travellers.”
The project is being developed in partnership with SS Developers. According to industry analysts, hotel operators are increasingly collaborating with regional developers to expand into underpenetrated markets with growing commercial and industrial significance.
Sandeep Banthia and Suresh Kumar Chordia, Partners, SS Developers, said, “We are delighted to partner with The Fern Hotels & Resorts for The Fern Residency Chandrapur, Series by Marriott. With The Fern’s strong brand reputation, operational expertise and commitment to sustainable hospitality, we are confident that this collaboration will establish a distinguished hospitality offering in Chandrapur and provide guests with a memorable stay experience.”
Scheduled to open in December 2029, the hotel will feature 57 rooms and suites designed for both business and leisure travellers. The property will also include an all-day dining restaurant, conference facilities, and banquet spaces aimed at serving corporate meetings, events, and social functions.
Hospitality consultants note that secondary cities such as Chandrapur are witnessing increased interest from hotel brands due to industrial development, improving connectivity, and rising corporate travel demand. Operators are also focusing on mixed-use hospitality offerings that combine accommodation, dining, and event infrastructure within a single property.
The Fern Hotels & Resorts continues to focus on environmentally conscious hospitality operations as part of its long-term brand positioning while expanding its footprint across key domestic markets.
