Restaurant India News: Lenexis Foodworks Gets CCI Approval to Acquire Stake in Burger King India Operator

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has cleared a consortium led by and affiliated entities to acquire a stake in the master franchisee of Burger King in India.

The approved transaction involves Lenexis Foodworks, Aayush Agrawal Trust (AAT), Inspira Foodworks Private Limited (IFPL), Aayush Madhusudan Agrawal, Founder and Managing Director of Inspira Global, and Inspira Agro Trading LLC (IATL).The deal will be executed through a mix of equity subscriptions, warrant subscriptions, share purchases, and an open offer.

Restaurant Brands Asia holds exclusive rights to develop, operate, and franchise Burger King restaurants across India. The approval comes amid rising consolidation in India’s quick-service restaurant (QSR) sector, with brands looking to scale operations and strengthen market presence. Lenexis Foodworks, the parent company of Chinese Wok, currently operates over 250 outlets across more than 45 Indian cities.

Inspira Foodworks is expected to serve as a strategic investment and operating platform to support the expansion of Lenexis’ QSR business. The development follows another major industry move earlier this month, when and approved a merger to create a combined Yum! Brands franchisee platform for KFC and Pizza Hut operations in India.

Meanwhile, Restaurant Brands Asia reported strong Q4 FY26 performance, with same-store sales growth of 6.3%, its highest in three years. Revenue from operations rose 17.1% year-on-year to Rs 573.5 crore, while EBITDA grew 27.6% to Rs 99.2 crore.
