Sula Vineyards has expanded its premium wine portfolio with the introduction of The Source Grenache Red, marking the eighth label under The Source range. The launch reflects the company’s focus on strengthening its position in India’s premium wine segment, where evolving consumer preferences are driving demand for approachable and fruit-forward wines.
The new offering is made from 100 percent Grenache grapes and follows the performance of The Source portfolio, which continues to record double digit growth across markets. The introduction builds on the response to The Source Grenache Rosé and increased awareness of Grenache as a versatile varietal among Indian consumers.
Positioned as a medium-bodied wine with 13 percent ABV, the product is designed to cater to both casual consumption and dining occasions. It features flavour notes of strawberry, red cherry, and raspberry, with a balanced structure supported by medium tannins and acidity. The profile aligns with the growing trend of easy-drinking wines that pair with a wide range of cuisines, including Indian dishes such as chicken tikka and paneer-based preparations, as well as global formats like pasta and pizza.
The launch also follows the recent introduction of The Source Chardonnay Reserve earlier this year, indicating a broader portfolio strategy focused on expanding varietal diversity while maintaining consistency in style and quality.
Gorakh Gaikwad, COO and Chief Winemaker at Sula Vineyards, said, “With The Source Grenache Red, we wanted to build on the strong response we have seen for The Grenache Rosé and further explore the potential of this varietal. The idea was to create a wine that is fruit forward, smooth, and easy to enjoy, while still offering balance and character. It’s a style that fits seamlessly into both everyday moments and dining occasions.”
The Source range has gained traction among urban consumers seeking premium yet accessible wines, supported by a focus on vineyard selection and controlled winemaking processes. The addition of a Grenache-based red wine expands the portfolio’s appeal across both on-trade and off-trade channels.
The Source Grenache Red is priced at Rs 1,295 for a 750 ml bottle and Rs 727 for a 375 ml bottle. It is currently available in retail outlets across Mumbai, with further market expansion expected in line with distribution strategies.
