Starbucks has elevated Anu Gupta to the position of Chief Transformation Officer as the global coffee chain continues to focus on operational transformation, growth strategy, and business innovation across its operations.
Gupta shared the development through a LinkedIn post, stating that she was “grateful and energized” to take on the new responsibility.
Before this appointment, Gupta served as Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning and Finance at Starbucks. During her tenure with the company, she held multiple leadership roles across strategic planning, business transformation, and operational functions.
Industry experts note that global hospitality and foodservice brands are increasingly strengthening transformation-focused leadership roles as companies invest in operational efficiency, digital innovation, customer experience enhancement, and long-term business scalability.
Gupta has also been actively involved in discussions around growth strategy, operational innovation, and organisational transformation through her professional engagements. Her experience includes strategy execution, turnaround management, and large-scale business transformation initiatives.
Hospitality analysts believe leadership appointments focused on transformation and operational restructuring are becoming critical for multinational café and restaurant chains as the sector adapts to changing consumer behaviour, evolving retail formats, and technology-driven business models.
The move comes at a time when the global café industry continues to prioritise efficiency, expansion strategies, and customer-centric innovation amid increasing competition in the organised foodservice market.
