SAMHI Hotels Limited, one of India’s leading branded hotel ownership and asset management platforms, has received formal confirmation from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) granting an extension to the development timeline for its flagship hotel project in Navi Mumbai. The approval enables the company to move forward with plans to build a dual-branded hotel of approximately 700 rooms located near the Navi Mumbai International Airport and DY Patil Stadium, with Phase 1 expected to include around 400 rooms.
The proposed development, planned to operate under the Westin and Fairfield by Marriott brands (subject to final agreements), will be SAMHI’s largest asset by room count. The project is aligned with the company’s ongoing strategy to expand through high-quality assets in key gateway markets with strong demand potential.
Situated along the Mumbai–Pune Expressway and well-connected to major infrastructure such as the Atal Setu Trans-Harbour Link, the property will benefit from multiple business and leisure demand drivers. The dual-brand configuration allows SAMHI to target a broad mix of customer segments including aviation, corporate, MICE, sports, and leisure travelers, optimizing both occupancy and average room rate potential.
Ashish Jakhanwala, Chairman and Managing Director, SAMHI Hotels Ltd., said, “We are delighted to receive MIDC’s confirmation, which unlocks a transformational opportunity for SAMHI in Mumbai Metropolitan Region. This development will be a large, marquee addition to our portfolio, with a complementary dual branded hotel under the Westin and Fairfield by Marriott brands. This positions us to capture the diverse demand segments around the Navi Mumbai International Airport and DY Patil Stadium corridor. By prioritizing Phase 1 at ~400 rooms, we can bring high-quality capacity to market sooner, align with infrastructure timelines, and scale efficiently to the full ~700 rooms thereafter. As our single largest hotel by rooms, it meaningfully advances our scale and strengthens our presence in a critical gateway market. With this SAMHI has covered all key office markets across India.”
This project marks SAMHI’s entry into the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, a strategic step that aligns with the city’s rapid infrastructure expansion and commercial growth. Once complete, the dual-branded property is expected to become a key asset in SAMHI’s portfolio, reinforcing its position as a major player in India’s hospitality sector.
