Restaurant India News: Loca Loka Tequila Expands to Bengaluru with Premium Blanco and Reposado

Loca Loka, the premium 100 percent agave tequila brand co-founded by Rana Daggubati, Anirudh Ravichander, and Sree Harsha Vadlamudi, has expanded into Bengaluru as part of its structured India growth plan. After establishing presence in Delhi and Mumbai, the brand has introduced its Blanco and Reposado expressions to the Karnataka capital, positioning the move as a strategic entry into a high-value urban market.

The Bengaluru launch reflects a calibrated expansion approach within a spirits category undergoing premiumisation. While tequila remains an emerging segment in India, it continues to record strong global growth, supported by cocktail culture, higher disposable incomes, and consumer preference for craft-led white spirits. Bengaluru’s established on-trade network and high per capita spending on food and beverage experiences make it a suitable market for premium alcobev brands seeking long-term positioning rather than rapid volume expansion.

Rana Daggubati, Co-Founder, Loca Loka, said, “I’ve always admired Bengaluru’s energy. There’s a balance here that’s ambitious yet grounded, global yet deeply rooted, artisanal yet uncompromising on quality. That duality mirrors Loca Loka. We’re inspired by authentic Mexican craft, but we’re building something that resonates with the modern global consumer, including India. The city’s creative and entrepreneurial spirit aligns naturally with the brand.” His comments underline the cultural rationale behind the expansion beyond commercial metrics.

Loca Loka initially launched in competitive international markets and is currently available across key cities in the United States. The brand has also expanded into Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia, with structured entries into the UK and the UAE in progress. The next growth phase is expected to consolidate distribution across North America, the Middle East, Europe, and selected Asian markets. Additional aged expressions, limited collaborations, and special editions are under development as part of the company’s product roadmap. Since its India debut last year, the brand reports strong demand, with batches selling out, attributing traction to repeat purchases and product-led equity.

Sree Harsha Vadlamudi, Co-Founder and CEO, Loca Loka, stated, “Bengaluru represents a strong alignment of consumer maturity, premium appetite, and trade sophistication. Our expansion strategy has never been about rapid geographic width. It’s about entering markets where distribution quality, pricing architecture, and consumer readiness converge. Bengaluru’s on-trade community understands agave, values craft and appreciates brand storytelling. That ecosystem makes it an ideal city for the next phase of our growth.” The strategy highlights a focus on selective distribution, bartender partnerships, and education-led brand building within the hospitality trade.

The brand has positioned itself as a founder-led venture rather than a celebrity-endorsed label, emphasising equity participation and operational discipline. Its rollout strategy in India prioritises curated placements, trade engagement, and mixology advocacy to reposition tequila beyond shot consumption toward sipping and cocktail versatility. Anirudh Ravichander, Co-Founder, Loca Loka, added, “Bengaluru has one of the most organic music communities in the country. It’s not just about large stages, but about intimate spaces where culture evolves. There’s a certain rhythm to this city that is layered, collaborative, constantly in motion. For us, tequila is as much about atmosphere as it is about the liquid itself. The way Bengaluru brings people together across art, nightlife, and ideas, makes it a natural fit for Loca Loka.”

Globally, premium and super-premium tequila segments have contributed a disproportionate share of category value growth over the past decade. In India, the rise of cocktail-forward bars and premium retail formats has opened opportunities for agave-based spirits to build sustainable brand equity. Loca Loka’s Bengaluru entry includes curated trade activations, bartender collaborations, and selective on-trade placements aimed at maintaining premium positioning and distribution quality.

The brand is currently available across leading premium hotels, bars, restaurants, and retail stores in Bengaluru in two variants: Loca Loka Blanco, positioned around bright agave notes, citrus freshness, and a peppery finish, and Loca Loka Reposado, aged in oak barrels to deliver a more rounded profile. The launch signals continued diversification within India’s evolving white spirits landscape, with Bengaluru emerging as a priority market for premium tequila expansion.
