Restaurant India News: Blisswater Expands to West Bengal with Yaksha Whisky and Salty Nerd Vodka

Blisswater Industries, operating under the House of Blisswater portfolio, has expanded distribution of its premium spirits portfolio into West Bengal through a partnership with Westwell Gases Pvt Ltd. The rollout includes Yaksha Whisky and Salty Nerd Vodka and is aimed at strengthening the company’s presence within the state’s organised liquor retail and nightlife-driven hospitality ecosystem.

West Bengal has emerged as a competitive premium spirits market, supported by evolving consumer preferences in urban centres such as Kolkata. The entry of Yaksha and Salty Nerd adds two differentiated offerings to bars, lounges, and premium liquor outlets seeking curated portfolios aligned with shifting consumption trends.

Yaksha Whisky is positioned as a blended product combining 5 year aged Scotch malts sourced from the Scottish Highlands with 3 year aged Indian malt spirits. The blend incorporates botanicals inspired by Soma and is described as smooth and layered, opening with malty and fruity notes and closing with a mild smoky finish. The brand recently secured a Silver Medal at the USA Spirits Ratings 2024 and a Silver Award at the IGC International Spirits Challenge 2025 in Hong Kong, strengthening its international recognition credentials as it enters the eastern India market.

Alongside Yaksha, the company has introduced Salty Nerd Vodka in West Bengal. Distilled from premium grains and charcoal-filtered, the vodka is bottled at 42.8 percent ABV. The brand is launching two variants in the state — Imperial Salted Caramel and Woke Mint — both positioned toward flavour-focused consumers and nightlife occasions. Industry observers note that flavoured vodka continues to gain traction in metro and tier-one markets, particularly within social and experiential consumption settings.
