In a development that highlights continued investment in India’s hospitality sector, a pre-opening puja ceremony was conducted for an upcoming large-scale hotel and convention project in Powai, Mumbai. The ceremony was hosted by Vijayta Raheja and Nikhil K. Raheja of the K Raheja family group, along with Sudeep Jain, Managing Director (South West Asia), IHG Hotels & Resorts.
The event was attended by Devendra Fadnavis, whose presence reflected the state government’s focus on infrastructure-led growth and investment in tourism and business ecosystems.
The project is positioned as a dual hotel development integrated with a large-format convention centre. It will include approximately 300 keys, 13 meeting rooms, 4 food and beverage outlets, landscaped lawns, and multiple event and public spaces. The property is expected to be operational in 2026.
The scale and mixed-use format of the project align with the increasing demand for integrated offerings that combine accommodation, events, and business facilities within a single destination. The inclusion of convention infrastructure also signals a targeted push towards strengthening Mumbai’s MICE capabilities, an area seeing steady demand from both domestic and international markets.
The collaboration between the K Raheja Group and IHG Hotels & Resorts reflects a model where real estate expertise and global hotel management capabilities are combined to deliver operational efficiency and brand-driven guest experiences. Such partnerships are becoming more common in India’s hospitality pipeline, particularly in metro cities with high business travel volumes.
Vijayta Raheja said, “Maharashtra continues to lead as one of India’s most progressive and investment-friendly states, driven by a strong focus on infrastructure, ease of doing business, and forward-looking governance under the leadership of our dynamic Chief Minister. Developments such as these further strengthen the state’s position as a preferred destination for tourism, business, and global investments.”
Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the role of such developments in strengthening Mumbai’s position in the global market, particularly in the MICE segment. He noted that projects of this scale contribute to enhancing the city’s competitiveness as a destination for international conferences, exhibitions, and business events, and congratulated the K Raheja Group and IHG Hotels & Resorts on the initiative.
The ceremony marked the initial phase of a project that is expected to add to Mumbai’s room inventory while also expanding its capacity to host large-scale business and convention events. As the hospitality sector continues to recover and expand, developments of this nature indicate a shift towards integrated, high-capacity assets designed to cater to both corporate and leisure demand.
