Cygnett Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of its second hotel in Ayodhya, strengthening its early mover position as the first branded hotel operator to enter the city. The upcoming Cozzet Ayodhya marks the company’s continued focus on organised economy hospitality in high-footfall pilgrimage destinations.
Positioned as a value-led hotel, Cozzet Ayodhya will feature 70 rooms along with an all-day dining restaurant and standardised guest facilities aimed at leisure and business travellers. The property will also include an 8,000 sq. ft. banquet hall with an attached lawn, targeting demand from weddings, social functions, and large gatherings. Additional infrastructure will include a gymnasium, conference facilities, and technology-enabled services designed for corporate use.
The hotel is strategically located on the Gorakhpur–Lucknow Highway, around 5 km from Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and approximately 1.5 km from the Ram Mandir. Select rooms are planned with views overlooking the temple precinct, aligning the property with Ayodhya’s religious travel demand.
Ayodhya has seen a significant rise in visitor numbers following recent infrastructure development, improved road access, and the launch of the new airport. These factors have contributed to sustained demand for branded accommodation, particularly in the economy and mid-scale segments.
Sarbendra Sarkar, Founder and Managing Director, Cygnett Hotels & Resorts, said, “Ayodhya represents the kind of destination where organised economy hospitality has a clear and long-term role to play. With Cozzet Ayodhya, our focus is on offering dependable quality, efficient design, and strong value to guests visiting the city for faith, family events, and short leisure stays. This signing aligns with our strategy of expanding in high-growth pilgrimage and tier-2 markets where demand visibility is strong.”
Cozzet Hotels operates as an affordability-focused brand within the Cygnett portfolio, offering standardised comfort and functional design while incorporating local influences. The brand caters primarily to India’s expanding base of domestic travellers seeking reliable accommodation at accessible price points.
Industry data supports this expansion strategy. Economy hotels account for approximately 29 percent of India’s total hotel room supply and, along with mid-scale properties, form the bulk of the country’s hospitality inventory. The Indian economy hotel segment is valued at close to USD 6 billion, driven by domestic tourism, weddings, and improved regional connectivity. The signing of Cozzet Ayodhya adds to Cygnett Hotels & Resorts’ asset-light growth pipeline, reinforcing its focus on scalable expansion across high-demand destinations.
