Restaurant India News: Cupid Breweries to Acquire United Spirits’ Odisha Facility for Rs 22.50 Crore

Cupid Breweries and Distilleries Limited has signed an agreement to acquire an alco-beverage manufacturing facility in Odisha from United Spirits Limited, marking a strategic move to strengthen its production infrastructure and support future growth plans.

According to a regulatory filing, the company has executed an Agreement for Sale and Transfer dated June 5, 2026, with United Spirits Limited, a Diageo Group company, for the acquisition of an operational alco-beverage manufacturing unit located in Gopalpur, Odisha.

As per the terms of the agreement, Cupid Breweries will acquire the facility's land, building, plant and machinery, along with premium excise licences, for a total consideration of Rs 22.50 crore, excluding applicable taxes, registration charges and stamp duty.

The acquisition follows the company's earlier announcement made on May 19, 2026, in which it had disclosed its intention to purchase the operational production facility.

The transaction reflects the growing focus among domestic alco-beverage companies on expanding manufacturing capabilities to meet evolving consumer demand and strengthen regional supply chains. Increasing ownership of production assets is also emerging as a key strategy for companies looking to improve operational efficiencies and scale their presence across markets.

According to the regulatory filing, the acquisition forms an integral part of Cupid Breweries' broader growth and expansion strategy. The company stated that the transaction would provide access to a large-scale production facility with an installed manufacturing capacity of approximately 2.5 lakh cases per month.

Upon completion of the acquisition, Cupid Breweries expects to enhance its manufacturing capabilities significantly and establish a stronger production base to support future business expansion. The transaction remains subject to the fulfilment of conditions specified under the agreement, including the completion of regulatory approvals and other procedural requirements.

The development comes at a time when India's alco-beverage sector continues to witness investments aimed at increasing production capacity, improving distribution efficiencies and strengthening market competitiveness, particularly as consumer demand diversifies across categories and regions.
