Niloufer Cafe in Banjara Hills has come under regulatory scrutiny after the state fire services department cancelled its Fire No-Objection Certificate (NOC) following a surprise inspection that reportedly revealed multiple violations of fire safety norms.
The inspection was conducted at the commercial building housing Niloufer Cafe, bearing municipal number 8-2-682/P2, P3 on Road No. 12, Banjara Hills. According to officials, the exercise was part of a broader review of fire safety compliance across commercial establishments following a recent series of fire incidents in the state that resulted in loss of life and property.
Director-General of Fire Services, Vikram Singh Mann, said the inspection was carried out based on information received by the department. During the visit, officials allegedly identified several irregularities and violations of conditions linked to the fire licence granted to the establishment.
Authorities stated that the café was operating a restaurant facility above the fourth floor without obtaining the necessary approvals, which was found to be in violation of prescribed fire safety conditions.
Taking note of the inspection findings, the fire services department cancelled the Fire NOC issued to the establishment, citing concerns over potential risks to human life and property. Officials said the decision was based on the inspection report and the safety implications arising from the alleged violations.
The development highlights the increasing focus on regulatory compliance within the hospitality sector, particularly as restaurants and foodservice businesses operate in high-footfall commercial environments where adherence to fire safety standards remains critical.
Vikram Singh Mann said the inspection was conducted following recent fire accidents across the state and stressed the importance of strict compliance with fire safety regulations. He urged business owners and licence holders to follow all prescribed safety measures and warned that violations of licence conditions would attract strict action.
The fire services department reiterated that ensuring compliance with fire safety norms remains a priority, particularly for commercial establishments that accommodate large numbers of customers daily.
