Restaurant India News: Crossword Bookstores Reopens Jaipur Flagship with Bento B, Blending Books and Japanese Cuisine

Crossword Bookstores has reopened its flagship store in Jaipur, unveiling a reimagined identity that brings together literature, architecture, and cuisine. The brand has introduced Bento B, an all-vegetarian Japanese restaurant, creating a hybrid space that merges the experience of reading and dining under one roof.

The redesigned store takes inspiration from Jaipur’s architectural heritage, integrating traditional motifs and local design elements into a modern layout. Visitors can now explore a wide selection of global bestsellers, regional literature, and curated Japanese titles while enjoying an authentic Japanese menu featuring bento boxes, ramen bowls, donburis, sushi, and traditional desserts.

“This collaboration marks an exciting new chapter for Crossword,” said Aakash Gupta, CEO, Crossword Bookstores. “With Bento B, we’re not just offering books and food — we’re creating a space where culture, stories, and people come together. It’s about rediscovering the joy of slowing down.”

The new store layout emphasizes comfort and community, featuring reading corners, soft lighting, and dedicated seating areas to encourage browsing and conversation. The space is also designed to host interactive events, book discussions, and cultural collaborations, positioning it as a local hub for creative engagement.

Amit Gupta, Founder, Bento B, added, “Jaipur is a city that loves stories and vegetarian food — this partnership brings both together in a fresh, engaging way. Whether you're flipping through manga with a matcha latte or discovering a new author over a bento meal, this space is a tribute to curiosity and culture,” he said.

The relaunch aligns with Crossword’s broader expansion strategy, which includes its recent international debut in Dubai. With this new format, the company continues to evolve from a traditional bookstore chain into a multi-dimensional cultural and retail experience, blending storytelling, design, and hospitality.
