Restaurant India News: Black Dog Whisky Introduces New Packaging to Refresh Its 140-Year Scotch Legacy

Blended Scotch whisky brand Black Dog Whisky has introduced updated packaging for its portfolio, marking a design change for a brand with a legacy spanning over 140 years. The update signals a shift in brand presentation aimed at maintaining relevance with evolving consumer preferences while retaining its established identity in the Indian whisky market.

Established in 1883, the brand traces its origins to its founder, Walter Millard, who emphasized patience and time in whisky craftsmanship. Over the decades, the Scotch label has developed a strong presence in India and is often associated with milestone celebrations and premium drinking occasions.

The revised packaging introduces what the company describes as “savour codes,” which include refined detailing, premium visual cues, and a simplified design approach. The updated look is designed to appeal to a younger audience while maintaining the recognizable elements associated with the brand.

The packaging refresh is also aligned with the brand’s renewed expression, “Savour the Sip,” which positions Scotch whisky consumption as a slower, more deliberate experience. The blend continues to use whiskies sourced from multiple distilleries across Scotland, including the well-known Linkwood Distillery, and follows a three-cask maturation process that defines the flavour profile.

As part of the portfolio positioning, the refreshed lineup highlights two key variants, each offering a different tasting profile. Black Dog Black Reserve is positioned as a rich Scotch whisky made from select Scottish malts with notes of malt, oak, and mild sherry sweetness. Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve is presented as a triple cask matured Scotch aged in Scotland, featuring layered flavours with hints of oak, toffee, and vanilla.

The refreshed Black Dog Whisky portfolio will roll out in phases across key Indian markets including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Punjab, along with other regions across the country. The rollout is expected to strengthen the brand’s visibility in the premium Scotch category within India’s evolving hospitality and retail spirits market.
