Rapido’s Ownly Enters Hyderabad With Zero-Commission Food Delivery Model

Rapido has expanded its food delivery business with the launch of Ownly in Hyderabad, making the city the platform’s second operating market after Bengaluru. The move expands Rapido’s presence in food delivery as it looks to build Ownly alongside its existing mobility business.

Ownly is now operational across Hyderabad and is offering restaurants a zero-commission model, under which partner restaurants do not pay platform fees. Customers, meanwhile, are charged a delivery fee based on the cost of the service.

The model gives Ownly a different commercial structure from conventional food delivery platforms, with the company positioning restaurant earnings and customer delivery charges separately. The Hyderabad launch also brings Rapido’s Captain network into the food delivery operation, allowing Captains to undertake food deliveries alongside their existing mobility responsibilities.

The company said the additional delivery business can create another earning opportunity for Captains as food orders increase across the city. To mark the Hyderabad launch, Ownly organised an event for Rapido Captains in the city, with Telugu actor Nani also interacting with members of the Captain community.

The Hyderabad expansion makes Ownly the latest food delivery platform to enter the city’s competitive restaurant delivery market. For restaurants, the zero-commission structure is positioned as an alternative commercial model, while the integration of Rapido Captains allows the company to use its existing mobility network for food delivery operations.

With Hyderabad as its second market, Ownly is now focused on expanding its restaurant network and customer base while building food delivery volumes through Rapido’s existing Captain ecosystem.
