Kaziranga Heritage has entered Assam’s luxury hospitality market with a 28-key property in Kaziranga, combining a restored heritage bungalow with contemporary accommodation, regional cuisine and destination-led experiences.
The property is built around the historic Bonani bungalow, which has guest records dating back to 1938. The bungalow has been preserved and incorporated into the new development as part of the property’s wider focus on heritage and local culture.
Guided by the philosophy “Preserve the past, celebrate the present,” Kaziranga Heritage has positioned the property around Assam’s architecture, craftsmanship, food and natural landscape. The design uses Assam-type architectural elements, bamboo, wood and woven materials, with features such as deep verandahs and sloping roofs.
The 28-key property is divided across four accommodation categories: Bonani, Bonoshree, Kohora River View Cottages and Kunjobon Presidential Suites & Duplexes. Each category is designed around a different aspect of the destination. Bonani is linked to the property’s history, while Bonoshree focuses on Assam’s art and cultural narratives. Kohora River View Cottages provide a closer connection to the river and surrounding landscape. The Kunjobon Presidential Suites & Duplexes include private plunge pools and personalised butler service.
Food and beverage is a key part of the property’s positioning. Its restaurant, Kazinemu, focuses on traditional Assamese cuisine, indigenous ingredients and woodfire cooking, with some Southeast Asian influences. The menu includes Assamese thalis and regional dishes, while tea-based cocktails bring Assam’s tea culture into the beverage programme.
The property is also using destination experiences to extend the guest proposition beyond the traditional Kaziranga safari. Guests can access jeep and elephant safaris, birding, tea garden visits, cultural performances and local interactions. Experiences also include visits to Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park and Kakochang Waterfall, along with excursions towards the Karbi Hills and river-based activities.
The property’s operating approach places emphasis on responsible tourism, local craftsmanship, responsible sourcing and cultural preservation. The objective is to connect accommodation with the wider destination rather than operate as a standalone luxury property.
Kaziranga Heritage is backed by a private public partnership between Centrepoint Group Enterprise - Hospitality (CPGE-Hospitality) and Assam Tourism. The partnership reflects a broader effort to develop Assam as a luxury travel market by combining hospitality infrastructure with the state’s heritage, food and natural assets.
Since its launch in March 2026, the property has been recognised by Condé Nast Traveller India as the new avatar of Kaziranga’s oldest tourist lodge. Kaziranga Heritage is now looking to establish the property as a luxury hospitality destination in the Northeast while retaining the heritage assets and regional identity associated with the location.
