Pique, a neighbourhood wine bar founded by Sasha Goenka in Horniman Circle. The concept is centred on making wine more accessible and approachable for everyday consumers, moving beyond the perception of wine as a beverage reserved only for special occasions.
Located in South Mumbai's heritage district, Pique draws inspiration from European neighbourhood bars and bistros where wine is integrated into everyday dining and social experiences.
The venue offers a food menu developed by Sasha Goenka in collaboration with Chef Aditya Raghavan, featuring European-inspired dishes made using ingredients sourced from Indian producers. The menu includes bar snacks, sandwiches, small plates and desserts designed for casual dining and sharing.
Wine remains the core focus of the concept. Pique offers approximately 12 wines by the glass and 24 wines by the bottle, with selections updated monthly. The venue has also entered into an exclusive partnership with Vallone Vineyards, featuring a selection of Indian wines, including an orange wine that is not widely available across bars and restaurants in India.
Beyond food and wine, the venue plans to host music-led programming, including genre-focused and themed music nights. The concept is positioned around creating a social environment that encourages repeat visits and community engagement.
Sasha Goenka, Founder, Pique, said, “Pique comes from the French piquer — to provoke, to spark curiosity. That's exactly what we want to do with wine in Mumbai: take away the intimidation and put the fun back in. This isn't about knowing the ‘right’ wine to order — it's about finding what you love, and coming back for it every week.”
The opening reflects the growing interest in wine-focused hospitality concepts in urban markets, where operators are increasingly creating formats aimed at making wine more accessible to a broader consumer base.
