Paul John Whisky Unveils New Packaging and Brand Identity

Paul John Whisky, the single malt brand from John Distilleries, has unveiled a new brand identity and packaging as it looks to strengthen its positioning in international markets. The refreshed identity is built around the narrative ‘A Journey into Indian Craft’ and focuses on the brand’s links with Indian craftsmanship, provenance and the character of its individual whisky expressions.

The new packaging takes design cues from Goa, Indian craftsmanship and the sensory characteristics associated with each expression. An updated elephant motif, which has been associated with the brand, now serves as a common visual element across the portfolio, with individual illustrations, textures and design elements used to differentiate the expressions.

Paul P John, Chairman, John Distilleries, shared, "Paul John Whisky has always been a celebration of India — its craftsmanship, its richness and its ability to create something truly distinctive for the world. As the brand has travelled across markets, our story has evolved with it. This new identity brings that journey to life. It reflects where we come from, the craft that goes into every expression and our ambition to take a contemporary expression of Indian whisky to the world. The liquid remains at the heart of everything we do, but now the world around it has a story to tell too."

The refreshed packaging is currently being introduced across three core expressions — Nirvana, Brilliance and Bold. The wider portfolio, including the Select Casks range, will move to the new packaging in phases over the coming months. The company said the whisky itself remains unchanged, including its liquid and production approach.

Paul John Single Malt is currently exported to over 44+ countries. The company said exports have contributed to the growth of the country’s overall spirits exports, which have expanded at a rate of 20 - 26% in recent years.

The brand has also won over 400+ awards globally and said its international distribution has expanded across the UK, US, Europe and UAE. The company is targeting further growth through premiumisation and portfolio expansion over the next five years.

The packaging change forms part of Paul John Whisky’s wider international strategy, with the brand using its updated identity to present Indian craftsmanship and its Goa origins across global markets while retaining its existing whisky portfolio.
