Harajuku Tokyo Cafe Opens Its Largest Outlet in Borivali

Harajuku Tokyo Cafe has opened its largest outlet at Sky City Mall in Borivali, marking its second location in Mumbai. The brand has also introduced Harajuku Bakehouse at the mall, bringing its Japanese-inspired food, drinks and desserts to the western suburbs.

Following its flagship outlet at Jio World Drive in BKC, the brand continues to expand its Fun Dine concept. Each outlet is inspired by a different Japanese neighbourhood, with the Borivali outlet drawing inspiration from Ikebukuro, a Tokyo district known for its anime culture, gaming arcades and busy shopping streets.

The outlet features Japanese street-style signage, urban-inspired interiors and an IKEBUS-inspired bar modelled on Ikebukuro’s iconic red bus. An owl motif, associated with the district, appears across the space, while the Tokyo Matrix offers Harajuku merchandise and other collectibles. The brand has introduced an experimental menu of sake, soju and cocktails inspired by Japanese cuisine. The drinks menu includes ramen-inspired and sushi-inspired cocktails, along with interactive bar experiences where guests can participate in games with bartenders.

The food menu retains popular dishes such as the Spicy Avocado Cream Cheese Roll and Kara Miso Ramen, while introducing new options including Miso Carbonara Udon, taquitos and an expanded selection of bento bowls. The Kaiten Clash conveyor belt experience, which previously offered unlimited weekday lunches, is now available throughout the week. The experience also features Mystery Drops, with surprise dishes appearing on the belt at four scheduled times during the day. Harajuku Bakehouse completes the offering with Japanese-inspired desserts, Jiggly Pancakes, artisanal bakes and matcha beverages. While the cafe focuses on interactive dining and entertainment, the Bakehouse offers a more relaxed dessert and bakery experience.

On the opening of the newest outpost, Gaurav Kanwar, Founder & CEO, Harajuku Tokyo Cafe shares “Our vision is to bring the Harajuku Tokyo Cafe experience to a larger audience, and expanding to Borivali is a big step in that direction. With our largest outlet yet at Sky City Mall, Borivali, we are introducing Ikebukuro, a new district within the Harajuku Tokyo Cafe universe. The concept allows us to bring together different facets of Japanese-inspired dining and retail in one space, while taking the overall experience up a notch.

He further adds, “Borivali is an exciting market with a distinct audience, and we have thoughtfully adapted our menu and offerings to suit local preferences while retaining the essence of Harajuku. From a more evolved food and beverage offering to an elevated bar programme, this outlet represents an exciting new direction for the brand and how we continue to engage with our guests”

With the Borivali opening, Harajuku Tokyo Cafe continues its approach of creating outlets inspired by different Japanese neighbourhoods, combining themed interiors with new food and beverage experiences.
